We have lift off! Successful launch for Morley Fairtrade Town

Morley’s campaign to become a Fairtrade Town was formally launched at a Fairtrade Coffee morning last Saturday morning at St Mary’s in the Wood Church Hall.

Residents, Leeds City Councillors from Morley and Ardsley & Robin Hood wards and Morley Town Councillors sipped Fairtrade teas and dunked Fairtrade biscuits to launch a year of public campaigning with the hope for Morley to successfully apply to become a Fairtrade Town in 2019.

The Morley Fairtrade Town steering committee, set up last year by Councillor Neil Dawson, has met regularly and is currently auditing the provision of Fairtrade products in shops, cafes and restaurants throughout Morley – a minimum number of each is required as well as the support of Morley Town Council in order for us to be considered a Fairtrade Town.
